- 1 single crust pie shell, cold
- 6 slices cooked bacon or ham
- 3 eggs
- ½ cup Greyere Cheese
- 1¼ cup heavy cream or half and half
- 0.5 teaspoon salt and pepper to taste
- pinch freshly ground pepper
- pinch nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small cubes
Parent Duty: Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Team Effort!: place pie crust in pie pan. Bake until slightly brown (about 4-7 minutes) Remove from oven and turn oven down to 375
Parent Duty: Cook the bacon in a sauté pan until crisp, or ham until slightly brown.
Kidtastic!: Remove and place on a plate lined with paper towels (to remove extra grease). Once cooled slightly, evenly scatter over the bottom of the partially-baked pastry shell.
Kidtastic: beat the cream (and/or half-and-half) with the eggs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg, until well blended. Pour over the bacon slices into the hot pastry shell, then sprinkle the butter dots on top.
Team Effort: Bake in the 375 degree oven for 30 minutes, until the quiche has puffed up and browned. Let cool slightly; serve warm or cold.
